Helping parents to find

their true selves

Counselling for parents in

Dartford & Sidcup Kent.

Thank you for visiting Clarice Cove Counselling.

Hello my name is Brenda.

I am a qualified counsellor with a special interest in working with parents who feel as though they have lost themselves underneath the parenting label. I work with parents, stepparents and grandparents, at any stage of their parenting journey.

Different stages of parenting can bring up different issues for parents, so whether it's looking at childcare for the first time, navigating going back to the workplace, trying to manage your teenagers hormones, getting ready for your adult child to leave home or welcome them back,

I am here to offer you the space to share what's going on for you right now.

Parents can feel overwhelmed with trying to juggle life, work and responsibilities and often put themselves last on the priority list.

I will work with you, to help you identify, what's underneath your feelings, what you can let go of, what you can prioritise and we will look at your boundaries in regards to relationships with others.

As an Integrative Counsellor, I work in a way that suits your individual needs, drawing on different theories and styles of psychotherapy. I believe counselling is a two-way process and we can work together to find out which approach best suits you.

I work in a client led way, so I will go at your pace and we can explore your thoughts and feelings in a way that works for you.

I come from a background of working in Early Years Education. Many of the theories in counselling are based upon our experiences in our very early years and how they shape our lives and choices in the here and now. With this in mind I will often work with the clients 'Inner child' to explore childhood emotions and the impact they can have on the adult I am sitting with.

I aim to give you a non-judgemental space to be heard and for your voice to matter. If you are feeling like you have lost your sense of self and are not sure which path to take next, I would love to work with you to gain a better insight into who you are, what you want and where you see your life going.

Why Clarice Cove Counselling then?

I chose the word 'cove' as for me it represents a place of shelter along the rocky coast. I was searching for a name for this cove and came across my grandmothers name of 'Clarice' which translates to "bright" or "clear". I hope to provide a place of shelter where you can begin to see things more clearly and life might begin to look brighter.

Life isn't always straightforward and I have navigated my own rocky paths at times. There were periods where I questioned if I was headed in the right direction and others where I felt completely lost. With the help of my own personal therapy, I was able to uncover the real, authentic me and find the direction I wanted to go in life. This path led me to train as a counsellor so that I may help others to find and value themselves.

People come to me for help with a wide range of issues. Here are a few of the more common difficulties that can be supported through counselling:

Overwhelm

Feelings of stress or anxiety

Panic attacks

Relationship problems

Grief, loss or bereavement

Problems with addiction

Trauma and post-traumatic stress

Abuse

Parenting Issues

Depression

Problems with confidence or self-esteem

Anger management

Issues relating to sexuality

Difficulties at work or in retirement

Problems with family

Building Confidence and Trust

It takes a while to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. I aim to hold the space to allow this process to happen. I will support you by being present, while you build confidence in yourself to share your thoughts and feelings.

I wonder what has brought you here?

Where are you now?

Where have you come from?

What are you searching for?

Wherever you are in life, I will meet you where you are at.

Taking time for yourself

I would like to work with you to explore your self-worth, self-care and being able to be present for yourself. I hope to provide a place where you are able to be kind to yourself and rely on internal validation instead of listening to external noise. We may work together to take time to breathe and ground yourself, allowing you to feel more settled and calmer if that is what is needed.
