How I can help you
Hello, I'm Brenda.
It's easy to lose yourself under the label of 'Mum' or 'Dad'.
I am a counsellor who has a special interest in working individually with parents and carers who feel like they have lost themselves under the layers of life responsibilities.
Parenting can bring up different issues at different stages, whether it's childcare, going back to work, managing teenagers, or adjusting to adult children leaving or returning home. I provide a safe space for you to talk about what's going on for you.
Parents often feel overwhelmed trying to balance life, work, and responsibilities, and tend to put themselves last. I am here to assist you in identifying your emotions, releasing what is no longer serving you, establishing priorities, and create healthy boundaries in your relationships.
Working with a client led approach, as an Integrative Counsellor, I love tailoring my work to fit the unique needs of each client by blending different theories and styles of psychotherapy. I see counselling as a team effort, where we can figure out the best approach for you together.
I come from a background of working in Early Years Education. Many of the theories in counselling are based upon our experiences in our very early years and how they shape our lives and choices in the here and now. With this in mind I will often work with the clients 'Inner child' to explore childhood emotions and the impact they can have on the adult I am sitting with.

I aim to give you a non-judgemental space to be heard and for your voice to matter. If you are feeling like you have lost your sense of self and are not sure which path to take next, I would love to work with you to gain a better insight into who you are, what you want and where you see your life going.
I chose the word 'cove' because it reminds me of a sheltered place along the rocky coast.
I named this cove after my grandmother, Clarice, which means "bright" or "clear".
I hope this cove can be a safe haven for you, where you can gain clarity and find hope.
Parenting life can be challenging, and I have faced my own struggles.
Through therapy, I discovered my true self and found my path in life.
This journey inspired me to become a counselor to support others in their own self-discovery and growth.
Parents come to me for help with a wide range of issues.
Here are a few that can be supported through counselling:
Overwhelm
Feelings of stress or anxiety
Panic attacks
Relationship problems
Grief, loss or bereavement
Problems with addiction
Trauma and post-traumatic stress
Abuse
Parenting Issues
Loss of identity
Depression
Problems with confidence or self-esteem
Anger management
Issues relating to sexuality
Difficulties at work or in retirement
Problems with family
It takes a while to build trust in the therapeutic relationship. I aim to hold the space to allow this process to happen. I will support you by being present, while you build confidence in yourself to share your thoughts and feelings.
Where are you now?
Where have you come from?
What are you searching for?
Wherever you are in life, I will meet you where you are at.

I'm excited to work with you to delve into your self-worth, self-care, and being present for yourself. My goal is to create a safe space where you can show yourself some kindness and trust your own inner voice rather than getting caught up in outside influences. Let's take some time to breathe and centre yourself, to help you feel more at ease and calm, if this is what you need.
Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about how counselling works, or to arrange an initial assessment appointment. This enables us to discuss the reasons you are thinking of coming to counselling, whether it could be helpful for you and whether I am the right therapist to help.
You can also call me on 07436190731 if you would prefer to leave a message or speak to me first. I am happy to discuss any queries or questions you may have prior to arranging an initial appointment.
All enquires are usually answered within 24 hours, and all contact is strictly confidential and uses secure phone and email services.
